My First ADF

So for the first time I attended the American Dance Festival. Throughout college all of my professors had been telling me to go but I never had the money or the time honestly, so upon graduation I auditioned and decided to go after a scholarship opportunity as a work study student. I was blessed enough to receive it, and with some (hardly successful) fundraising and some help from friends and family I had literally JUST enough money to go. Going to an intensive with limited funds was quite the experience, but I would not have traded it for anything! I met such amazing people, both peers and professors, and so many others who literally keep ADF running. They’re all amazing! I saw so many cool works and learned so so so much! I recommend anyone who can go to go, as long as you have more than enough money to last you the month!

This is an improv I did in between classes in the beautiful dance space on Duke University’s campus. I was able to attend a Kyle Abraham A.I.M performance, and even got to meet a few company members because of my job at ADF! It was such a beautiful piece, and it was the only show I saw twice! The music was all D’Angelo, and I completely fell in love with the way it sounds and feels, so I decided to let the inspiration take me and did some feel good freestyling. Feel free to watch and I hope you enjoyed this update, stay lovely people :3
